O March, how we love thee.
Yes, friends, it’s that time of the month again where our dreams of becoming the first person to ever correctly pick 63 games, and have the entire planet declare us the smartest person alive, are soon dashed after we take a chance on that ill-advised 4-13 upset.
Be warned! For this, the SportsChump’s Fourth Annual March Madness Bracket Bonanza, I want winners! While you can rest assured you are all winners in my book, technically speaking, only one of you will be in three more weeks. That person shall be dubbed this year’s swami.
Former swamis include Yaz, Heavy D and J-Dub. Here’s what they had to say about winning this tournament in the past:
Yaz: I won the very first SportsChump Madness Bracket. It changed my life in ways too numerous to mention. The only reason I haven’t repeated as champion since its onset is because I picked the Steelers to win the last two national championships.
Heavy D: The next time I beat SportsChump in golf will be the first time I beat SportsChump in golf. At least I won his Madness tournament. Has anyone seen the bar?
J-Dub: I’m hungry.
(Note: these words may or may not have been uttered by previous champions)
Now that the sparkling endorsements are over, please pay attention to the rules as this tourney will run a little differently as in year’s past.
In the comments section below, please include: Your Sweet Sixteen, your Elite Eight, your Final Four and your national champion. That’s right, we’re going cutthroat this year, all for one and one for all. Choose it right from the get-go for ultimate bragging rights, as well as a fabulous SportsChump prize pack delivered right to your door.
The scoring will go as follows: You will be allotted one point for each sweet sixteen team you select correctly, four points for each Elite eight team, eight points for each Final Four team and sixteen points for correctly choosing the national champion so… you might want to get that one right.
For your tie-breaker, tell me how many points you think Creighton’s Doug McDermott will score in the tournament.
Here is your bracket. Choose wisely and the best of luck to you all.

Dwin, my good sir, you are in. And yes, I did get your tiebreak.
Markaz…
You have apparently taken a page out of Al’s playbook.
Please double-check your Sweet Sixteen teams above as I do believe you have listed 24 teams. They call is “The Sweet Sixteen” for a reason and I think my readers would get a little upset if I gave you the leeway of an extra eight teams in that category.
Sending you an email now.
The Beag is in and heavy on Iowa State.
That might be a game-changer if they get that far.
Wow!
Speaking of heavy on Iowa State, Tim the Glutton has them winning a national championship.
I hereby predict he’ll either come in first place… or dead last.
Dubs is officially in and I must say, sir, it’s quite unlike you to go with such a trendy pick like Michigan State.
And here I didn’t think you watched ESPN.
Mr. (ahem) Jacobs…
Really? Michigan State? No Gators?
They may have to come and revoke your diploma.
Tsk tsk.
The Surface is in.
And the first person to pick Florida to win it all.
That means I’m not talking to the rest of you and he and I are on good terms.
Jad is also officially in giving us eight total at the end of Monday (technically seven since Markaz’ picks are complete) and three to have picked Arizona to win it all.

I know not picking Florida to win will reduce my street cred on this site but in time the healing process will prevail. As will getting most of this wrong…
Pest is in…. EXCEPT.
You list UCLA in your Sweet 16 where you probably meant Florida since you have them in your 8, 4 and Final game.
We’ll see how that comes into play.
Hanahan Coverdale is in and picks the University of Virginia to go all the way.
Bold pick, sir, but that’s why we love you.
Attitudes is in with another pick for Sparty, giving us 14 total picks.
Best of luck, (ladies and) gentlemen.
I’ll have everyone’s picks up to be verified shortly.
My oh my… If I win this thing it will be by an act of God! LOL!
Even a blind squirrel, Dwin.
Well Triple SC..how did I miss this post? I’m pissed I missed it:( Good grief I love March Madness and now we have opening day for baseball around the corner. Happy Dee Dee Days ahead lol! What do you think about good ole Ozzie getting petition together for MLB Opening Day as national holiday? I already proposed it at the office and got shot down:(
But hey, it’s okay… I’m gonna be all in glorious Orange and Blue tomorrow. Go Gators
Dee Dee
Dee Dee…
Don’t you think it’s about time you let someone else win one of my contests?
And I’m always down for a holiday… not that we need another excuse to drink or anything.

It’s come down to this, ladies and gentlemen.
IF Florida wins this year’s national championship, Christian from Blog Surface is our grand champion.
Considering nobody else in this tourney picked either UConn, Wisconsin or Kentucky to win it all (don’t feel bad, I doubt anyone else in any other tourneys did either), our current points leader, Ben Jacobs, will become our winner.
Which I find bittersweet, considering Ben Jacobs is a Florida alum.
Oh, how um, Mr. Jacobs must be torn.
Here are the standings:
Ben Jacobs 43
Blog Surface 42
J-Dub 40
Jad 34
SportsAttitudes 34
SportsChump 33
Speedbeagle 30
Heavy D 29

And the winner of the fourth annual SportsChump madness bracket bonanza is none other than Ben Jacobs…
Take a bow, ahem, sir.

Rumor has it that Big Ben Jacobs even played a little college ball in ‘his’ day.
