We’re going to make this one short and sweet, folks, since our clock is ticking. The NFL season is almost upon us.
As many of you know, for the past ten years, I’ve hosted an Over/Under pick ‘em contest on this website. This year will be no exception.
Since the NFL currently plans to proceed with its season, without fans in the stands, we’re going to proceed with our annual over/under game.
We football fans are hoping the season goes off without a hitch. Some of us are even hoping to sneak into a stadium before it’s all said and done.
Here at SportsChump, for the sake of this contest, we are going to assume all will go on as scheduled so get your predictions ready.
Before you do, however, first a look at last year’s results. In reverse order, out of a possible 55 points:
J-Dub – 14 (Picking up the rear as usual.)
SportsChump – 17 (My low score explains why I lost so much money ATS last year.)
Sauze Bauze – 26 (Near the bottom but considerably better than the host. Then again, who wasn’t?)
BNRMoose – 29 (Approaching respectability.)
Speedbeagle – 31 (As always, proving she’s not just about NASCAR.)
Joseph Mills – 32 (Betting on the Bears and Falcons to finish over is never good advice.)
Fibbs – 32 (Glad he got out of the ticket sales game while he had the chance.)
Ravenous – 35 (Ravenous… but not ravenous enough.)
Heavy D – 38 (How many times have you finished second in this thing, D? Always a bridesmaid.)
And our winner and FIRST EVER TWO-TIME CHAMPION OF THIS CONTEST…. GIVE IT UP FOR KP!!!!
KP tallied 48 points, only missing on three teams (Chargers, Panthers and Falcons all over) but made sure they were all for low points. Congratulations, sir. Care to go for three? I’ll email you with the particulars.
If you’ve entered this contest before, you know the rules. If you haven’t, here ya’ go.

Welcome (and welcome back) to all those who have put in their picks.

Speedbeagle
Deacon Blues
KP
TJ (albeit overzealously so)
and
Sauze Bauze
I have questions for Moose and Fibbs…
Moose, you listed your picks in reverse order. So my question is, are you assigning ten points to the team your most confident about, for that’s how this contest runs? See what I mean? Are you more confident about the Dolphins going over (your 1) or the Colts going over (your 10). I’ll e-mail ya’.
And Fibbsy, good sir, your technique has gotten the better of you. You wagered five points on both the Brownies and the Saints but have no seven-pointer. Which team do you want seven points on?
And here, are your winning picks.
10 – Seattle Over
9 – Zona Under
8 – Bucs Over
7 – Rams Under
6 – GB Over
5 – Hou Over
4 – Pit Over
3 – LAC Under
2 – Jets Under
1 – Min Over
Tie breaker: Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay will win a combined 22 games… with the Bucs (yay!) amassing most of those.
Sorry SC – Just reverse the order of the numbers – 10 CP’s on the Dolphins , 9 CP’s on the Chargers and so on down the line. Sorry for the confusion.
Ok, throwing my hat in the game…
10. Jets – under
9. Bucs – over
8. Bills – over
7. Steelers – over
6. Seahawks – over
5. Cowboys – under
4. Vikings – over
3. Broncos – under
2. Cardinals – under
1. Colts – over
It’s quite obvious that the state of Florida should only have two professional teams that anyone ever thinks about: Miami Heat and Tampa Bay Lightning. Here’s to hoping that Tom Brady and Gronkowski increase that total to three.
Moose…
That’s what I figured. You are in, good sir. As Hootie Johnson would say, good luck in the toonament.
BCole is in which officially gives us 11 entries on the season. Not a bad turn out considering we’re in the midst of a pandemic and everyone hates sports for being too outspoken.
BCole… I need your tie-breaker… and how are you gonna choose the Vikings over in the season when they got rid of your boy, Stefon Diggs.
By the looks of their 1-2 start, it looks like they’re missing him already.
Greg…
After a solid start, it looks like they are well on their way.
