The scheduling of the PGA Tour means that golf’s four Major tournaments are now crammed into a brief, four-month window. Hot on the heels of the US Masters in April, the PGA Championship follows with the competition getting underway on May 19th.
All of the world’s best players will be in attendance and, in a strong field, all eyes will be on Scottie Scheffler. The new World Number One claimed the first Major trophy of 2022 with victory at Augusta and few would be surprised if he doubled up with his next attempt.
Key Dates and Venue
The Southern Hills Championship Course at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma is the location for this year’s PGA Championship. This is a par 71 course and there will be some assistance for the power hitters with some 7,481 yards in play.
This will be the eighth men’s Major tournament to be held here and the first since the PGA Championship was hosted by Southern Hills back in 2007. Tiger Woods was the winner on that occasion but the majority of players in 2022 will be first timers and therefore unfamiliar with the challenges laid down by this course.
Play will officially get underway on Thursday May 19th and will conclude on the following Sunday, May 22nd. This is tournament play so the golfer with the lowest aggregate score at the end of the four rounds will lift the trophy. In the event of the tie, there will be a playoff to decide the winner.
PGA Championship Odds
Scottie Scheffler will start as one of the favorites to win the PGA Championship but the world’s number one has plenty of competition. Using outright winner odds supplied by sources attached to sbo.net, the best online betting sites in the US have Scheffler and Jon Rahm listed as joint favorites.
Close behind is a clutch of top class golfers including Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith.
With some tournament play still left before the PGA Championship tees off, there is a strong chance that those odds will change. Any updates will be shown by sbo.net on their website and readers can take their time to assess the market.
News and opinion articles relating to the world of golf will also be available while visitors have an additional option to get more involved. Each member of the recommended panel of sportsbooks is open to new customers, subject to eligibility.
In return for completing a swift and secure registration form, many of those operators have generous welcome packages up for grabs. A selection of deposit methods is in place to add necessary funds to the account while customer service can help with any issues.
Once confirmed as a new customer, there is likely to be a range of ongoing promotions, together with mobile betting, in-play markets and a host of other sports. It’s a useful site to follow for golf betting but is that assessment of Scottie Scheffler correct, or will there be a challenge from within the chasing pack?
Can Scheffler make it two in a row?
Once Scottie Scheffler had claimed the halfway lead at the US Masters, he never really looked like relinquishing his hold on the Green Jacket. While the 25-year-old dropped the occasional shot along the way, he offered little hope to a chasing pack which was led by Cameron Smith and Rory McIlroy.
It’s also been a remarkable start to the year for Scheffler. Prior to the start of the current PGA Tour season, he had yet to win on the circuit but that victory at the Masters was his fourth on Tour since the beginning of 2022.
At the PGA Championship, Scheffler may not have the distance off the tee to compete with the big power hitters. That may be one area to address but there are few, if any, weaknesses in his game.
Scottie Scheffler has enjoyed a stellar year to date. Like most golfers, he may suffer a dip in form as the months progress, but few would bet against the man from Texas adding to his list of Major titles in 2022.
