Podcasts are the wave of the future. I heard that on a podcast somewhere.
Yours truly has dabbled in different multimedia outlets over my illustrious career, from social to radio sit-ins to even being credited in Emmy Award-winning documentaries. Despite my ever-increasing desire to maintain a low profile and ride off into the sunset, I’m out there on the grid and you can find me if you look close enough.
Months ago, some HCC students came into the bar and we got to talking. As they were fledgling, young, film students working on a short, I asked them if they’d seen Swingers, which they hadn’t.
It just made sense to me that young men with a dream of filmmaking watch one of the most iconic films about young men with a dream of filmmaking. But what do I know? I’m old.
Every time, they’d come into the bar for a pint, I’d ask them if they’d seen Swingers yet, which they hadn’t… but they had been working on podcast.
One thing led to another and yours truly was invited to sit in on their pod for an hour, which I did. And guess what. They finally watched Swingers!
So, a big thank you to Dustin, Vince and Anthony for inviting me on to discuss Swingers, bar life in Ybor City, the changing nature of the liquor industry and what exactly constitutes a chicken nugget.
